Finished digipak
This is my final digipak. We edited all the images to blend well with the album and cropped all images to fit a actual CD album. Using a continuous colour scheme let the album flow through the whole CD, we used a pink back base colour as a banner and used the same text for the artists name and another text for the titles.
On the CD page we have shown where the CD would be placed if the album was manufactured by using the same measurement as a real CD. We have added two record labels to our album - Warner Brothers is the record label and iTunes is were the CD will be sold.
When finalising our digipak we decided to remove the lyrics from the middle page as it appeared to be unclear and blurry.

Digipak Planning- Back Page
Digipak Planning- CD insert
This page is the insert for the CD and will need to include the CD disc plan.
The second page inside the digipak will be the CD disc, we have come up with the idea of making the CD and background a image when the CD is placed in its case rather than a different image for disc and background. The image needs to be simple but have great relevence to key features of our album. We our also going to have the artists name showing down the left hand side of the CD. On the CD we will include the production team and itunes to show were fans can download the song from. We have used the guitar in this photo to link with the generic features of the genre.

Digipak Planning- Lyrics Page
We decided to choose to do a lyrics page in our digipak because from all the album deconstructions we undertook 90% of them included lyrics pages. Lyrics page also let fans become more familiar with the songs from the artist.
The name of the song will be written across the top of the page this will show the readers the song they can sing along too. The lyrics will be written down the left side of the page but set to follow the contor of the singers body; as shown on image above. The background will be a fresh clear country side. will position our model sat on top of a wooden box, in the middle of a field with a guitar in front of her; we chose to use this layout as we want to show the guitar as we feel it is a key part to our chosen song and we want to portray the genre in each page. We will edit the photos using Photoshop and make the photo appear brighter and more lively.
The font in the title will be -handwritten.
The font on the lyrics will be- Comic Sans

digipak primary sources- editing process front cover
This image required editing to give it the magical qualities we were looking for and I added a rainbow into the background to give the front cover some more colour and a magical feel of something good to be found at the end of the rainbow. The colour in the rainbow also brought a contrast to the duller colours of the box and the large expanse of green grass.
The processes of editing I undertook were:
1. Add more colour to the background to give it more natural light
2.Add the rainbow going over the artist to gain a enchanted feel to the image
3.Add a light effect to give the impression it was appearing out of the box
4.Dim the colour around each corner of the picture to draw the eye into the centre image
5.Increase the contrast and saturation
First Picture-digipak primary sources- editing process song lyrics
We took the decison that this image didn't need editing as the shot was how we wanted it to appear. The expression on the artists face captured the fun element and yet also continued the theme of the magic held within the box trapped in by her position sitting on the box and the sense of something more to come. The lack of natural light however resulted in us using Photoshop to add more light to the image to make it brighter.

We decided to use this image as the CD as this was a very natural picture and shows the target audience what the artist is all about the country feel and illustrates her a single artist. I only edited the light in this image to make it appear more vibrant and colourful to the eye. The artist again looks away from the camera lens and is not making eye contact with the audience supporting the theme of the artist being alone and unaware of the audience presence. The contour of the artists body shape will follow the circular shape of the CD and have the guitar as the main feature of the CD. This choice fits with our genre as country pop and that the guitar is the main instrument played within this genre.

digipak primary sources -editing process back cover
For our front cover we wanted an original design, with something that would stand out from most other artists Cd's and compete against other artist for the effects on the CD covers, such as Mika's album 'Life in cartoon motion' which displays a cover of animated colour effects or Bruno Mars album 'Just the way you are' with a picture of a girls face which is covered in purple dots to form the silhouette of the face.
(Bruno Mars- Just the way you are)
(Mika- Life in cartoon Motion)
We decided to capture our singer and put her in a jar that she couldn't get out of, we did this because its very memorable and posed this to the audience why was she in the bottle and would she escape.
We captured an image of the main singer standing how we would want her to be in the jar- then shrank the image to fit in the size of the jar. We cut around the outside of the model and pasted it into the background of the other picture we had captured. We decided to use this background because it was rural and a desirable scenery.
I changed the model to the appropriate size and edited the effects of the picture editing:
- Light
- Transparent
- Sharping the image to make the image appear striking
The steps taken to transform the image:-

Picture Three- Final Transformation

This is the final product transformation we edited the light above the jar to make it more appealing to the eye, we also dimmed the background light.

Research- Key generic features
Angles
There are many close ups on the main singer and focus on the singer and a blur is added to the back picture. The band members are always shown as middle shot.
Camera Work
The camera worked used was a steady shot using the tripod to support the filming. Dolly wheels are also used to maintain a steady tracking shot.
Mise-on-scene
Within this genre they always have a guitar in the video. The country and western artists are often presented wearing boots and a dress.
Continuity
In eighty percent of the music videos I deconstructed they used short clips rather than continuity. The other twenty percent present a story within there music video which followed through in chronological order.

Research- Deconstruction of digipak
The picture is a man (meant to be Paolo Nutini) in cartoon form sitting in a cafe eating breakfast looking totally oblivious to anything around him. We know this because he is eating while sitting next to a swarm of flies paying no attention to his surroundings.
In the back picture there is a rainbow this is a mix of all the colours and a child floating away with some ballons giving the CD a unrealistic feeling.
His name is writting in large white with red boarder writting across the top of the CD so you know who it is and the album name underneath is orange letters. The colour orange connotes a sense of energy, meaning there is energy in his songs and warmth. In the background to this CD there is his guitar proped up against the wall this shows he takes his guitar everywhere with him.
The colour scheme used on the back is yellow, red and green.
The colour yellow symbolises happiness and joy suggesting his CD gives joy.
The colour red symbolises love and passion this shows he has love for his music
The colour green symbolises nature. It is the easiest color on the eye and can improve vision. It is a calming, refreshing color bringing the outisde into his music.
On the right hand side there is a picture of paolo nutini standing in a green field with trees with his guitar symbolising its his most important object within his music.
This is the middle page of his digipak booklet. This shows all pictures from paolo nutinis life and fans. Showing the listerners that he is just like a normal person even though he's famous.
This is the back of the digipak they have used the same colour patterns as the front of the album and the name of artist and album name.
They have listed all the song names throughtout the album on the back in order of the

Permission Request for use of song.

We emailed each company: Switching Name of song and Band.
Dear Sir or Madam
For our ‘A’ Level Media Studies coursework we have to make a music video to accompany a song. For our project we would like to use Can't Stand it by The Band Perry and are seeking your permission.
The resulting music video will not be used for commercial gain, will be hosted on a private coursework blog and also rendered on to DVD for the attention of our teacher and the coursework moderator. Should we not hear from you to the contrary within 14 days of the date of this email we will assume that your are happy for us to use this music under a fair use arrangement.
